A large variety of sports and recreational activities are offered by the Parks & Recreation Department year round. CAMILLUS/WEST GENESEE SPORTS HALL OF FAME: Eligible Candidate Criteria: Candidate must be a recognizable and respected member of the Town of Camillus and/or West Genesee School District Community, either past or present that has made a significant impact in the areas of sports and/or recreation. 2009 BEACH AND POOL INFORMATION: Veteran's Memorial Park at Gillie Lake features a sandy beach close to picnic tables, grills, and a playground. The beach is open June 6 & 7, June 13 & 14, and daily from June 20 until August 16 from Noon until 7:00 p.m.
Camillus Park Pool features two lanes set aside for lap swimming and the remainder of the pool free for recreational open swim. Chairs, umbrellas, and a changing area are provided. The pool is open daily June 20 to August 16 from Noon until 7:00 p.m.
Beach & Pool Admission: 4 and under: Free Age 5-17: $2.00 Age 18-59: $3.00 59 and over: Free
Season Pass: Season pass photo ID cards for West Genesee School District residents can be purchased at the Parks & Recreation Department located at the Shove Park Ice Arena Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Age 5-17: $25.00 Age 18-59: $45.00 Family Pass: $100.00

PARK INFORMATION: There are eight parks and over 850 acres of parkland maintained by the Parks & Recreation Department. Pavilion reservations are available at no cost to Town residents, $50 for non-residents. These following facilities offer amenities such as playgrounds, picnic pavilions, ball fields, swimming, ice skating, fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and summer youth programs:

POPULAR PROGRAMS
Swimming Swimming facilities are available at Camillus Park, Veteran’s Memorial Park at Gillie Lake, and West Genesee High School. Open swimming is available at Veteran’s Memorial Park at Gillie Lake and Camillus Park Pool during the summer months from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with lap swimming available at Camillus Park Pool. Swimming is available at West Genesee High School during the winter months.
Music in the Park During the month of July, the Parks & Recreation Department hosts a free concert each Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bicentennial Park at the Camillus Municipal Building (weather permitting). A new band performs each week and popcorn and lemonade are provided compliments of the Camillus Police Benevolent Association. Ample lawn space is available; bring a blanket or lawn chair. |
