 The Camillus Dog Shelter
The Town of Camillus Dog Shelter is home to loose dogs recovered by the Dog Control Officer in the Towns of Camillus and Van Buren, it is NOT a public shelter. The shelter is a clean and healthy environment for the dogs, where they receive basic care, exercise, training, and lots of love! The shelter is also a very safe location, as it is under Police surveillance 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Dogs are held for a five day impoundment period as required by New York State law, which gives their owners time to claim them, after which they may become available for adoption.

During their impoundment period, the shelter staff evaluates the dogs, tends to their needs, and nutures them in an attempt to reduce the anxiety that is caused by their displacement. The shelter staff evaluates each dog's personality and temperament in order to match them with an appropriate home. We believe that unclaimed stray dogs deserve a second chance to find a great home and become a loving and devoted family member and companion and we're proud to have placed countless dogs into great families in which they have thrived!
The cost to adopt a dog from the Camillus Dog shelter is $94.00, which covers the cost of a rabies vaccination, distemper/parvo vaccination, dog license, microchip identification, and a spay/neuter deposit. Donations are gratefully accepted!
If you or someone you know is interested in adopting a dog, please contact the Dog Control Officer at 488-1234 to make an appointment to visit our shelter.
